The Audi A4 is a compact sized vehicle for the executive market that's made by Audi AG, a German company, since 1994. The A4 was introduced as an alternative for the Audi 80. The A4 shares many likenesses with the eighty including a front engine that's longitudinally orientated and a transmission with transaxle found instantly behind the engine and positioned longitudinally. The A4 was also available as a Cabriolet and sedan.
The production of this auto started in 1994 and ever since its intro to the market there were for generations (or versions) of this model, let's have a quick look at them:
The B5 A4:
The production of this variation started in 1994 and was extended till 2001. This was initially introduced as a sedan which featured the standard front-wheel-drive. Nonetheless, plenty of the owners of the A4 preferred to go with the four-wheel-drive version. American purchasers only had the choice of taking a B5 A4 which had a V-6 engine; this was also the model which set the standard of quality and engineering for this manufacturer.
The B6 A4:
This car was launched by the market in late 2k, it was provoked by the second-generation C5 Audi A6. The Avant version was launched in at the end of the 2nd quarter of 2001; it featured 50:50 front to rear torque distribution.
The B7 A4:
This model was heavily revised and exploited a modification of the frame featured in the B6; this is in connection with the Volkswagen B6 (PL46) platform which was still employed in this variation. This revision was launched in 2004; the engine used featured a 4 valve per cylinder design as the 5 valve wasn't compatible with the FSI injection system.
The B8 A4:
This is the latest version which was released in 2007 and it's still in production, the design of the framework in this vehicle has been seriously improved - the front spindle was moved forward re the engine which provided benefits re stability and weight distribution, it also shares traits with the Audi A5 coup.
